Content days for outdoor brands

Months of short-form content, filmed in a single day
Frolicking in a field with B-roll and text over the top? You know it performs, but it’s like, what are we doing? Meanwhile there’s a wild amount of content living on your phone and you don’t know what’s worth posting and what isn’t. Let’s go in with a plan. That’s what content days are for.
shoot planning
We plan your shots in advance, balancing the content that performs well on social media with what your brand actually needs. We go in with a strategy and make the most of every minute, instead of posting videos willy-nilly.
talking heads
You don’t have to be a personal brand to film talking heads. People buy into people, whether that’s you, your team or the people using your products, so face-to-camera videos need to be part of the mix.
b-roll
We capture haptic visuals, the shots you can almost feel, so people can see themselves in your brand and want to buy into that feeling too. Drone shots included.
gear in action
A good day out filming your gear, with room to have a bit of a laugh and be properly you, so your content doesn’t sound like everyone else on the internet.

Before you book a content day…
What is a content day, and how does it help my social media?
Content days are a 3 to 4 hour shoot where we capture talking heads for your brand, B-roll, storytelling shots and your gear in action. It’s all shot on an iPhone or a small DJI (I’ve got a drone too). The goal is quickfire content for social media, without the long wait or the cost of a professional videographer for short-form content.
How much does a content day cost?
Current pricing is £495 plus travel. Content days are UK-based for now, with international projects available on request, subject to work authorisation.
What happens on a content day?
It’s a super fun day for me to get involved in your business, and it depends what kind of company you have. I recently shot a content day on a retreat, and my whole job was to capture B-roll for future promo material. For some people it’s filming a bunch of talking heads while you do your thing. I appreciate frolicking around in a field might seem a little bit grim and ridiculous, so it might just be us two going for a hike, me asking you questions out in the environment your ideal clients are in. If you sell outdoor or adventure gear, we’ll be capturing it in use too.
The main thing is we plan it in advance: what content you want, and whether it needs to last a whole season or a couple of months. Then we get those shots in as little time as possible, so you can get back to what you do best.
How much content will I get from one content day?
It depends how much you post and how much we plan for. If you post 4 times a week, I’ll go in prepared with a mix of talking heads, B-roll ideas and shots showcasing your product or service, enough to carry you through 3 months. Want a full season? We can look at how to do that. And if you want to film lots of talking heads, we can extend the day to 6 hours.
Do you edit the videos?
Talking head videos are edited separately. Edits are included in my retainer packages, or I can quote you for one-off edits. For B-roll, you get all the raw footage in a folder for you or your social media manager to use anywhere.
Why hire someone for a content day instead of filming it myself?
When you do it yourself, you’re often too in your own business to see what your customer is looking for. As one of your ideal clients, I know what I’d want to see from your product or service. I go away and do the research, so we go into the day with an actual shoot plan and can be really intentional with our time. And hopefully we have a really fun day outdoors and bring some creative vision to life.
What do I need to prepare before a content day?
Anything you physically want shot, so if you’re product-based, have your gear ready. Get yourself ready to be on camera, however you feel comfortable. Block the whole day out, and maybe treat yourself the day before so you’re in the zone. I’ll send a suggested shot list and content ideas beforehand.
If anyone else is featuring, like your team or people using your products, give them a heads up and make sure you have their permission. This usually comes up if we’re shooting at a bricks-and-mortar location.

hey, i'm sal.
My life is a constant juxtaposition… I love adventure and being outdoors, but I’m also chronically online and obsessed with marketing, which makes me the perfect partner in crime for your outdoor brand.
I’ve always loved making content. Years ago I ran a travel account and grew it to 26,000 followers. A media outlet picked up our travel footage and sold it to the press, which kept our travel funds topped up. We won GoPro of the Day twice and even got paid for a photo. I was selling content before it was even a thing.
While I was travelling, I taught myself basic photography from reading magazines and watching tutorials on shooting and editing. Then I kind of fell into offering content shoots as a service. A friend with a wedding content creation business asked me to co-shoot, then one of my existing clients wanted me to come and shoot B-roll at one of their retreat events. Even on my own professional brand shoot in Iceland, I was the B-roll creator in the background, filming the photographer while she was photographing me. I want to offer this more, because it’s such a super fun way for us to get out there and really show your brand in action.
We’ll always plan out your shoot day, but I love the chance to run with ideas as I spot them on the day too. Having the space to be a bit ADHD, wild and creative is what makes these days so fun. Now I’m bringing that to outdoor brands, filming the kind of stuff I’d normally be out doing anyway.
