Email marketing that makes your customers want to buy
You’ve got Klaviyo set up and a few hundred people on your list, but no one on your team really knows how to use it, and a lot of your subscribers are friends and family who aren’t going to buy. Email marketing has the potential to be the biggest ROI on your marketing, and right now it’s barely ticking over. I’ll go in, sort it out and make it make you money. Here’s how:
welcome flow
The first emails new subscribers get, so they get to know you and make their first order.
abandoned cart
Reminders that bring back people who got as far as checkout and then wandered off.
weekly nurture emails
Regular emails that keep you in your customers’ inbox between orders, so they don’t forget about you.
seasonal campaigns
Launches, restocks and the big sales moments, planned around your season.
list clean-up and segmentation
Sorting out who’s actually on your list, so the friends and family don’t drag your numbers down and the right people get the right emails.
funnel builds
Freebie-to-customer funnels that grow your list with people who actually want to buy.
Before you hire an email marketer…
Which email platform is best for outdoor brands?
It depends on your business. If you sell products, Klaviyo, hands down. It’s the best ecommerce email marketing platform out there. If you’re service-based, Klaviyo is still a great choice (it’s what I use), but if you’ve got a small list and you’re just getting started, something like MailerLite might suit you better.
How much does email marketing cost for an outdoor brand?
It depends on what you want set up. My single newsletters start from $250, while more complex automations and funnel builds can run into the multiple four figures. The best thing to do is speak to a marketing strategist who understands email marketing and the outdoor industry, so they can recommend what will actually serve your business.
Do you offer email strategy and consulting?
Yes. If you’d rather keep your emails in-house but want a strategist in your corner, you can find out more about my strategy and consulting here.
How do I request a quote for email marketing services for my outdoor brand?

hey, i'm sal.
My life is a constant juxtaposition… I love adventure and being outdoors, but I’m also chronically online and obsessed with marketing, which makes me the perfect partner in crime for your outdoor brand.
I love email marketing because it’s a platform you own. Your list is your data, so you’re not at the mercy of the algorithm. If you’re interesting enough and your subject lines are compelling enough, you’ve got prime real estate in someone’s inbox, and they’ll actually open your sales emails.
I’ve spent a decade working in marketing, studying consumer psychology and what actually makes people want to open your emails and then buy from you. Whenever I buy off the back of an email, I love pulling apart how and why it happened.
Now I’m a freelance email marketer specializing in the outdoor industry, and I want to put that to work in your brand, so the sales come in without you having to become a marketer yourself.
You get to stay outside or do a couple of extra markets this year, while I handle the biggest driver of your online sales.

what our journey together looks like...
Subscribers are nice. Customers who buy from you again and again, and tell their mates about you, are better. Here’s how I get you there.
C · community
One of the first apps people open when they pick up their phone is email. I’ll help you build a cult-like community who look out for yours in their inbox.
L · leverage
I’ll look at who’s opening, clicking and buying, and work out why. Then I’ll segment your list and send emails that go deeper on the problems they’re facing.
I · invite
When your people are ready to buy, I make it easy for them with emails that share your results and what’s on offer, so saying yes feels good for both of you.
M · multiply
B · brand advocacy
I turn your happy customers into brand advocates, using emails that ask for reviews, photos from the trail, or invite them to an affiliate scheme so the people who already love you get rewarded for spreading the word.

email wins
A grand from a handful of people
I once sent one tightly segmented retargeting email to literally a handful of people on my list, and it made about a grand in passive sales. That’s the power of sending the right email to the right people.
A few more from the inbox:
- A 63% open rate on an email for a service-based business
- An 8% click rate on a fairly cold list for a boutique accommodation provider
- A record-breaking month for a client who sent 18 emails during the campaign
