from a gal who 'gets' your chronically offline customer

social media management for outdoor brands

It’s 3pm on a Saturday, you’ve been chatting to customers at a market all day and it hits you: sh*t, I haven’t posted on Instagram today. Social media isn’t your area of expertise, and the last agency you tried didn’t get the outdoors. You want to hand it to someone who does. Here’s the platforms I can support you with:

Social media management services for the platforms your customers use

instagram

Your nurture tool. I capture what it’s like to live and breathe your brand, from customers out wearing your kit to the experience itself, so the people who follow you start to buy.

tiktok

The place to get new eyes on your business. Its interest-based algorithm puts you in front of people who are already really interested in what you sell, even if they’ve never heard of you.

youtube

Shorts and long form, depending on your brand. Van conversions, gear reviews or founder stories, I’ll make sure your content works across every platform so nothing you film goes to waste.

pinterest

Great for product brands and travel or lifestyle businesses, because people go there searching for where to go next and what to take with them. I’ll make sure they find you.

Need fresh content? Add a content day to your retainer, from £495 + travel (UK). I’ll come to you and shoot enough content to see you through a whole season, depending on how much you need.

Customers somewhere else, like LinkedIn or Threads? Tell me and we’ll look at it together.

Before you hire a social media manager…

What are the best social media platforms for outdoor gear companies?

It depends where your customers spend their time. TikTok is the place to get new eyes on your brand, and Instagram is a great nurture tool. Pinterest works brilliantly for product and travel brands, and YouTube suits gear reviews, van builds and founder stories.

Yes. If you want a brand rooted in community that makes sales without relying on ad spend all the time, social media is where you do it. It’s views for free, and the best place for people to find out who you are, what you do and what you believe in. Skipping it would be daft.

Use it to build a community that buys from you. Take a technical gear brand: I’d use TikTok to really test the gear and put it through its paces, add founder-led talking head videos, and throw in some daft ones that show off the brand’s personality. That’s Community, the first stage of my CLIMB method, and every stage after it turns that community into sales.

My done-for-you social media management starts from $2,900 a month, with a 6-month minimum. It’s built around the platforms you actually need, so the final price depends on what we’re running. Apply below and we’ll book a call to talk it through.

Both can work. What matters most is that whoever you hire knows the outdoors. I snowboard, hike and run, and the freelancers and contractors I bring in to help deliver the work are experienced in their field and adventurers too. We understand how your customers shop and behave because we’re those customers.

Fill in the application form at the bottom of this page. Once you’ve applied, you’ll go straight to my calendar to book a call, and we’ll work out exactly what you need.

hey, i'm sal.

My life is a constant juxtaposition… I love adventure and being outdoors, but I’m also chronically online and obsessed with marketing, which makes me the perfect partner in crime for your outdoor brand.

Social media is how this all started for me. Way back in the day I had a travel blogging account and grew a community of 26,000 followers. Then in Vancouver it clicked. I wanted to keep traveling forever and I had the skills, so why would I go back to a 9-to-5? That’s when my business was born.

I get your chronically offline customer because sometimes I am them, and I know exactly how to reach them when they finally pick up their phones.

I’ve spent a decade working in marketing, studying consumer psychology and what actually makes people buy. When someone gets me to buy something, I love pulling apart how and why it happened.

Now I’m a freelance social media manager specializing in the outdoor industry, and I want to put that to work in your brand, so the sales come in without you having to become a marketer yourself.

You get to stay outside and do a couple of extra markets this year, while I handle the online sales.

what our journey together looks like...

Followers are nice. Customers who buy from you again and again, and tell their mates about you, are better. Here’s how I get you there.

C · community

Find where your people actually spend their time doom scrolling when they pop online, and show up there with content that makes them feel like they’re chatting to a mate. It’s all about building that community.

L · leverage

Listen to your community and follow the data to figure out what’s landing. Then go deeper on the problem they’re facing, with content that really agitates it and positions your product/service as the solution.

I · invite

When your people are ready to buy, I make it easy for them by sharing your results and what’s on offer, so saying yes feels good for both of you.

M · multiply

It costs 4x more to get a new customer than it does to keep one. You give them a good experience, and I handle the upsells, cross-sells and downsells that increase their lifetime value.

B · brand advocacy

Turn your happy customers into brand advocates. That might mean reviews, photos from the trail, or an affiliate scheme so the people who already love you get rewarded for spreading the word.

Daily enquiries within 3 months

Steph is an agency owner and invested in our social media management services to generate more leads to her business, within the first 3 months we got to a stage where her TikTok account was generating daily enquiries (sometimes multiple) per day, just from posting every other day; you don’t need to post 3x a day to be successful with TikTok, you just need to know your ideal client.
