So you’re scrolling your phone dodging annoying ad after annoying ad, when suddenly – BAM – a post that actually grabs your attention.
It’s like some kind of next-level Derren Brown sh*t, reading your mind.
That, my friend, is the power of good organic marketing.
It isn’t about going in hard on the sell. Because when you do it right, you shouldn’t need to. It’s about increasing your brand awareness and building connections (because we’re all craving that at the moment in this AI world).
As an organic marketing agency for coaches, we’ve mastered the art of getting inside your ideal client’s head. We’ve spent countless hours tweaking and perfecting our strategies to ensure coaches like you get noticed without dropping a single penny on ads.

How Long Does it Take to Get Results from Organic Marketing?
If you’re after a quick fix, I’m gonna be honest and say – organic marketing probably isn’t for you, sorry!
I’d love to be able to give an exact time frame, but there are soooooo many varying factors.
Let’s take search engine optimisation (SEO) as an example:
If you wanna rank #1 on Google for your niche keywords people might tell you it will take 3-6 months. And if your website is already well-optimised with a strong domain authority, they could be right.
But, if you have:
- Low domain authority
- Poor back-end SEO
- Poor quality website
- Zero SEO strategy
- A slow website
It’s probably gonna take a bit longer to fix all that. And if you don’t improve all that stuff first, then anything you do afterwards is pretty much pointless. I mean, why would Google push your blogs, if your website quality is like the final season of Game of Thrones – a massive bloody letdown?
And it’s not just SEO, social media plays by the same rules. If your Instagram or TikTok are an absolute snooze fest, maybe you’ve been inactive for a few months – it’s unlikely you’re going to be able to turn it around in a space of a few posts.
Good things take time. However, tracking your data and doubling down on what works can help you get results faster. This brings us to the next crucial part of organic marketing…
Tracking Data to Drive More Sales
When I speak to people about their data, they usually tell me “Yeah, we track it all on Google sheet”. But, then I ask “So, what are you doing with that data?” … nothing.
It’s all well and good having a bunch of stats and charts, but if you’re not doing anything with it, you (or your social media manager) are wasting your time. You need to analyse it, figure out what’s working and what’s not, and continually tweak your strategy accordingly. Marketing strategies (and the data) aren’t static – they’re fluid, and constantly evolving.
I don’t mean any disrespect to your SMM, but if all they’re sending you is a pretty-looking PDF, with a few screenshots – it’s style over substance. They probably don’t know how to read and interpret data – and why would they? It’s a strategic task outside of their job remit.
At 49 North, we live for this stuff! We go deep when it comes to data. Looking at everything from engagement rates to conversion metrics, to figure out exactly what’s hitting the mark and what needs sacking off. Once we’ve cracked the code on what resonates with your audience, we double down on those strategies, turning up the volume and driving more consistent results.
Isn’t it Just Quicker to Use Ads vs Organic Marketing?
Ads have a time and place. And they can deliver some quick results. But in my opinion, most people don’t need ads. You’re stuck on the never-ending treadmill of paying for every click, view, and conversion. The minute you stop funding the ad machine, your results vanish quicker than a shady Snapchat message.
On the flip side, organic marketing builds a loyal audience that actually cares about what you have to say.
Yes, it takes a bit longer to see results, but the payoff is a sustainable, engaged community that doesn’t disappear the second you stop spending money or the algorithm changes (Google’s recent updates have sent ad agencies into a bit of meltdown).
Pros & Cons of Organic Marketing
Alright, let’s break it down – the good, the bad, and the ugly of organic marketing. Spoiler alert: it’s mostly good, but I like to keep it real.
Pros:
- It’s cost-effective. No need to sell a kidney to pay for ads. Organic marketing is all about leveraging what you’ve got.
- It builds trust and authority within your niche. People trust organic content more than they do ads.
- There’s some serious long-term benefits. The effort you put in now keeps paying off down the road.
- Organic marketing attracts people who are genuinely interested in what you offer. No more wasting time on people who clicked your ad by accident or haven’t been pre-qualified.
- It’s sustainable. Unlike ads, which stop working as soon as you stop paying, organic marketing keeps growing. It’s literally the gift that keeps on giving. We’re literally doing organic marketing as we write this blog – cool hey?
Cons:
- It’s a marathon, not a sprint. You’ve got to be in it for the long haul.
- It requires consistent effort. No slacking off. You need to keep producing high-quality content on the regular.
- Unlike ads, you probably won’t see instant results (although we have known it happen will a killer messaging strategy).
- It’s not just about posting a couple of blogs or social posts and calling it a day. You need a well-thought-out dynamic strategy.
In a nutshell, organic marketing is like training for a marathon – tough but incredibly rewarding. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but if you’re in it for the long haul, the results are well worth the effort. We’ve used organic marketing to help sell out our client’s launches, generate them $90,000 of enquiries in a single month, send THOUSANDS of qualified leads to their website each month and even outrank the likes of Amazon. Not gonna lie, we were jumping up and down with that one!
Ways to Improve Your Organic Marketing Strategy
So, you’ve decided to play the long game and commit to organic marketing. Smart move! But how do you level up and make sure you’re not just wasting more time and money?
Here’s a few ways to up your organic marketing game:
1. Know Your Ideal Client
When I say know… I mean really know. I want you to get borderline Joe Goldberg here.
If you only action 1 point from this blog today, let it be this one… get to know your ideal client. And before you tell me “They’re 30-35, female business coaches who love to travel” – that’s not knowing your ideal client. Sorry.
What TV series are they watching at the moment that’s affected their posting schedule?
What’s keeping them awake at night?
When they experience struggles in life and business, what does their actual day to day experience look like off the back of that?
The key to making sales is understanding your ideal customer. It’s not about who they are as a prospect, but who they are as a person.
If your ideal client likes heading to a chic cafe and ordering an iced caramel latte every day, rather than making one at home, we can use this knowledge to paint a more in-depth picture of their life or the dream they want to achieve.
For example, if we were promoting our Funnel Build Service for this latte lover, we may say something along the lines of “ca-ching”, imagine just as you’re about to tap your card at Starbs for your daily iced caramel latte before you sit down to look at Slack and do client check-ins, another £27 sale has popped up on your stripe account thanks to your new tripwire we set up for you. Boom, that’s your daily coffee paid for and them some which is inifinitely better than that icky feeling you currently seeing that £6 leave your account with a latte (see what I did there) regret for spending all your money on Starbs when you have a perfectly good machine at home.
This is going a little bit hard on the fact that this person LOVES a latte. But I’m hoping you get the picture…I KNOW who I’m talking to above here…can you say the same about your audience?
Honestly, so many people skip this step, but it’s sooooo crucial for really being able to nail your messaging.

2. Stop Putting All Your Eggs In One Basket
If you’ve followed me for a while (thanks!), you’ll know I’m a BIG advocate for multichannel marketing and building omnipresence with your marketing strategy.
Now this is NOT me telling you to go and sign up for every platform on the internet.
It’s better to do a few platforms really well, than it is to spread yourself too thin and end up churning out crap content for just the sake of it.
But if you’ve done you’re homework from point 1 (go you!) then there’s probably a couple of favourite platforms your ideal clients like to hang out on. Those are the places you need to be. Especially with that new belter messaging you have after doing your homework on your ideal client.
3. Partner Up for Double The Impact
If you want to get more eyes on your brand, quick, partnerships are the way to do it.
You want to be looking for other people/ businesses who have a similar ideal client to you (not your competitors obvs).
Host a live session, guest on a podcast, do a masterclass for someone’s mastermind, write a guest blog or newsletter – get in front of their audience. It’s a win-win that expands your reach and adds value to both parties.
I’ve personally been on multiple podcasts, am a guest resident marketing/copywriting expert in 3 masterminds and counting, and I’m always open to pitches to going live together – feel free to shoot me a DM (yep you’ll still get Sal in the DMs over on my IG)
4. Get People on Your Email List
Speaking of which…are you on mine?!
If you’re relying on social media to bring in leads, you’re on borrowed time. What happens if you lose the account you’ve worked so hard to build up? It happens all the time and IG, TikTok, all the other social platforms who don’t give a f*ck about you and your business and have their own agenda to run.
You need to be actively moving people from your socials to something you actually own – your email list.
Honestly getting someone’s email is the jackpot! Why do you think they’ve even started doing it in shops when they ask to send a digital receipt? They’re not doing it to save the planet, they’re doing it because they want your email. They know they’ve got you on the hook and now they have a direct to send you hyper-targetted marketing. It’s bloody clever!
“But how do I get people’s email, Sal?”
Create some sh*t hot freebies! And then talk about them. Not just once on the day you released it… all the damn time!
5. Start a Blog, They’re Alive And Kicking
I hear people saying this all the time. But, you’re here, so that’s proof in itself.
Yes, blogging has changed a lot over the past few years, especially now everything seems to be written with AI, and most of it is drivel (we won’t get into that today). But if you want to get found on Google and attract organic leads to your website, you need a blog.
Regularly updated, SEO-optimised blog content helps improve your search engine ranking and brings in that sweet, sweet organic traffic. Plus, it’s a great way to showcase your expertise and provide value to your audience.
